As if Toronto music fans didn't have enough to look forward to this summer, Britain's Bestival will be making the trip across the pond to bring us yet another two-day festival.The multi-award winning major independent festival, now in its 12 year, is best known for combining electronic dance music with alternative rock, pop, and hip-hop, and typically plays host to 50,000 fans. Previous headliners include Stevie Wonder, Florence & The Machine, The Cure, and Kraftwerk, as well as a who's who of big-name DJs.The Canadian version of Bestival will take place from June 12-13 on Hanlan's Point Beach in the Toronto Islands. Bestival will partner up with media conglomerate SFX Entertainment and Canadian entertainment company Embrace to build a setup that will hold up to 20,000 people a day.Former BBC DJ and Bestival founder Robert Gorham, aka Rob da Bank, had this to say about the upcoming event:"We have waited 12 years to decide to launch another Bestival outside of the UK… It took a really special city, and an even more exciting site, with Toronto and Toronto Island, to make us take the leap… No disrespect to the festivals in North America, but a lot of them are very much stages, bars, food tents. This festival will look very different. It will have theatricality, ambition."Although the Toronto lineup has not yet been unveiled, a look at the British edition of Bestival reveals an eclectic lineup of performers ranging from dance acts like The Chemical Brothers, Seth Troxler, and Tale of Us to pop acts like Duran Duran and hip hop performers Action Bronson and Jurassic 5.To register for more updates, head to the main page here.
