MIXED BY Bonobo

When some faraway species reads stories to their youth about the history of mankind, the section on "Greatest Minds In Electronic Music History" will surely have a hefty chapter on Simon Green, better known to the world as Bonobo. For over a decade, Green has been capturing our membranes with his brilliantly architected brand of downtempo organic rhythms, swaying in the winds between beat-centric trip-hop, lush heavy basslines, and beautifully structured layers of live instrumentation. His studio albums for long found label, Ninja Tune, shattered the bar on experimentation and genre fusing—portraying a vibe so diverse it's fit for everything from a walk in woods, a smoky lounge, and even after-hours in the club.

His most recent stunning LP The North Borders followed suit with a globe-trotting live tour hitting some of the world's most esteemed locations, in which Green employed a full 12-piece band, featuring himself on bass as the oufit's leader and heartbeat. He'll be performing the final live show this November at London's famed Alexandra Palace but in addition has been busy spanning the globe on a string of DJ-set dates, and we recently saw him bring his stellar mixing skills to Electric Zoo this weekend for a jamming performance. Today we're thrilled to finally see him under the MIXED BY spotlight.
