Party Like the Prohibition Just Ended at Montreal’s New Club, Newspeak

THUMP and SJU are throwing a three-day opening weekend party to celebrate.

The newest addition to Montreal's nightlife scene is here: Newspeak, an intimate club situated in the centre of Quartier des Spectacles.

Looking like a speakeasy from a futuristic version of 1920s Prohibition, the venue, which borrows its name from George Orwell's dystopian novel 1984, aims to provide a diversified and highly eclectic lineup of cutting edge electronic musicians. The venue is set to feature a unique, avant-garde mix of North American and European sensibilities and a custom-built, state-of-the-art sound system.

The brainchild behind it all is the Montreal-based events and promotional company Samouraïs des Jungles Urbaines (SJU)."Our goal is to establish the club as a welcoming home to subcultures by creating a club environment fertile to creativity and freedom of thought," SJU tells THUMP. The company is known for booking a variety of unconventional international artists, including Kaytranada, Bonobo, Chet Faker, Moderat, and have also hosted over 100 shows in 2014 alone.

THUMP is partnering with SJU for Newspeak's grand opening weekend, which will be three consecutive night's worth of unbelievable music. See the full list of performers, dates, and ticket information below.
