Jarrod Dyson Goes Full Ken Griffey Jr to Rob Home Run

Jarrod Dyson scaled the wall at Marlins Park to rob a Christian Yelich of a home run with a spectacular catch.

Appropriately, this took place at the ghastly Marlins Park where the center field wall gives off distinct green-screen-on-the-set-of-an-overcooked-Michael Bay-film vibes, because Jarrod Dyson pulled off some special effects wizardry in Miami last night. Dyson got on his horse and tracked down a blast from Christian Yelich in the first inning last night and took two last big strides once he got to the warning track before leaping leaping and scaling the wall it to rip the ball back into play. It was as gorgeous as it was efficient: 96 percent according to the nerds at Statcast.

The catch immediately brought to mind Ken Griffey, Jr. climbing and crashing into walls to rob Jesse Barfield or Ruben Sierra.

If the catch was great, the reaction from all three players involved—Royals pitcher Edinson Volquez, Yelich, and Dyson—might have been even better. It's the tidiest summation in three acts you could ask for.

"Holy shit?!"

"Are you kidding me?"

"You're welcome."
