Didi Gregorius Is Bribing NYers with Subway Fares for All-Star Votes

The Yankees shortstop is one of five American League candidates for the Final Vote to get in the All-Star Game and he's hustling.

Didi Gregorius, an actual knight of the Order of Orange-Nassau in the Netherlands, is one of five hopefuls in MLB's relatively new Final Vote campaign for the All-Star Game. Gregorius, Mike Moustakas, Elvis Andrus, Xander Bogaerts, and salty-ass Logan Morrison are all vying for the final spot. Voting ends today, so Gregorius is out in New York City trying to drum up support by bribing New Yorkers with free subway rides.

I'm guessing most people would have a similar reaction as this gentleman did when a stranger does something as weird as try to talk to you on the subway. Plus, it's not like Didi is Derek Jeter out there, or even Aaron Judge; he probably still flies under most people's radar. New York is also an international metropolis with many people passing through who surely would have no knowledge of baseball, the Yankees, or Gregorius. No worries for the quadrilingual Didi, though, he just wants to help (and get those votes).

What a guy.

The only real problem with this strategy is that the subway is currently a bigger shitshow than the AL West. I'm not sure how much good will you're going to engender by giving away free tours through the Nine Circles of Hell. Still, he's a knight, and chivalry's gonna chivalry.
