Yasiel Puig Mashes Tater, Flips Cleveland Fans a Double Bird

In the second inning in Cleveland last night, Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig hit a home run to center field and proceeded to race around the bases, touch home plate, and gave some Indians fans a double-barreled finger on his way into the dugout.

Puig says the fans were chirping at him before and after his at-bat, and that he stooped to their level in the heat of the moment. He doesn't seem too worried about it, though, since that cat is already out of the bag.

"It's something that came out," Puig said. "There's really nothing I can do at this point."

Asked if he expected to be fined, Puig indicated there's also not much he can do if that happens.

"I can't not pay it," he said. "[The video is] everywhere. I know I did it. What can we do about it now?"

There's been a rash of fingers being given in baseball recently, with poor Mr. Met himself getting shitcanned for flipping off a bunch of heckling fans earlier this month. Perhaps that was a little bit more understandable because fans were apparently targeting Mr. Met's mom.

It's hard to imagine Puig meeting the same fate as the mascot, although his on-field performance has steadily declined since he burst onto the scene in 2013—he was actually batting ninth in the order last night. He added a single in the eighth inning to finish the night with two hits, two RBI, and two birds.

The Dodgers beat the Indians 7-5.
