Alex Burrows Has Lost His God Damn Mind

Burrows is facing a lengthy suspension after turning into an absolute maniac and kneeing Taylor Hall in the back of the head.

Alex Burrows is back, baby.

After keeping his nose somewhat clean for the better part of the past three years, the 36-year-old Senators forward returned to his familiar position of being universally despised after jumping Devils forward Taylor Hall during a scrum Tuesday and kneeing him several times in the back of the head.

The incident appeared to be in retaliation to a massive (clean) hit which Hall landed on Burrows just seconds earlier.

Burrows only received four minutes in penalties on the play (two for roughing, two for cross-checking), but was contacted by the league directly after the game and offered an in-person discipline hearing, meaning he could be looking at a suspension of six-plus games. Burrows waived his right to the in-person hearing.

Hall, meanwhile, lamented Burrows' strange attack on him, questioning his mental state, which is, um, quite valid.

Burrows last escaped discipline, somehow, after this blindside head shot on Predators forward Paul Gaustad in March 2015. The last time Burrows faced suspension was in 2014, when he was dealt a three-game ban for a dirty head hit on then-Habs blueliner Alexei Emelin. He was also fined back in 2010 for accusing official Stephane Auger of handing out penalties unfairly in an attempt to punish Burrows for previous embellishments.

He's also developed the reputation of being one of the biggest divers in the NHL, and was even accused of straight up biting Bruins All-Star Patrice Bergeron during Game 1 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Final. Seven years later, not much has changed.
