DeMar DeRozan Ended Anthony Tolliver's Career

DeMar DeRozan is a bad, bad man.

It's no secret how good DeRozan has been this season. He's guided the Raptors to what's shaping up to be their best season in franchise history, made his fourth All-Star team, poured in a career-high 52 points back in January, and has taken his game to new heights to become a legitimate MVP candidate.

But seemingly every week he's doing something new to reinforce his status as one of the league's best. He did that again Wednesday night in an overtime win over the Pistons to help the Raptors become the first NBA team to clinch a playoff berth.

DeRozan eclipsed the 40-point mark for the fourth time this season, dropping 42 on 16-of-28 shooting from the field, with no points more thunderous than his vicious dunk on Anthony Tolliver with seconds remaining in the fourth. DeRozan went coast to coast with the Raptors trailing and more or less ended Tolliver's career with this and-one posterization.

Bless Anthony Tolliver's soul.

Blake Griffin forced overtime seconds later, but the Raptors squeezed out a win, with DeRozan playing front and center on the game-winning bucket, dishing it off in traffic to everyone's favorite backup point guard Fred VanVleet, who buried a 20-footer from the corner to seal the victory.

Toronto, winners of six straight, isn't slowing down and neither is DeRozan, who's averaging 26.1 points while shooting 50 percent from the field in seven games since the All-Star break.

The Raptors will finish no worse than second in the East and if they can hold on to the No. 1 seed—they are 2.5 games up on the Celtics with 18 contests remaining—can possibly avoid their biggest tests in Cleveland and Boston until the conference finals, giving them what's looking like their best chance ever to make a push to the NBA Finals. Without DeRozan transforming himself once again, that wouldn't be possible.
