Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are already responsible for some of the greatest art produced this century—Step Brothers and Talladega Nights—but they haven't graced us with their pairing in quite some time. Now, the two are coming back to play Sherlock Holmes and his partner Watson, Deadline reports.

The movie, aptly titled Holmes & Watson, will be directed by Etan Cohen. Cohen wrote the underrated Tropic Thunder and the sadly prophetic Idocracy, and made his directorial debut with the Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart vehicle Get Hard last year. In this sophomore effort, Ferrell will star as Holmes with Reilly as the sidekick.

Sherlock Holmes, of course, is a fairly well-trod pop-culture staple. We've already seen the Guy Ritchie–directed Sherlock Holmes franchise starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law, and two recent television series—Elementary and Sherlock—starring Lucy Liu and Benedict Cumberbatch, respectively.

But, as Deadline says, with newly ignited global interest in the characters, audiences will happily line up to watch Ferrell and Reilly tell the tale with a comedic bent, given the two already have more than a few instant comedy classics under their belts. Plus, Ferrell's got some free time on his hands now that he's not playing Reagan in that Alzheimer's comedy.
