Nicki Minaj Is Officially On One

Nicki is officially on one, and she's got words for Meek Mill, too.

FUCKING FINALLY, JESUS CHRIST.

For weeks now the music world has held its breath waiting for Nicki Minaj to answer back to Remy Ma's seven-minute mammoth diss "shETHER," and now, today, Friday 10 March, we breathe a collective sigh of release and vomit up a bunch of reaction pics on Twitter. Because Nicki Minaj, Onika Tanya Maraj, Nicki Lewinsky, Nicki the Harajuku Barbie is back with not one, nor two, but three new songs, one of which sends for Remy and her co-conspirator Meek Mill.

"No Frauds" – which reunites her with the other two members of Young Money's Big 3, Drake and Lil Wayne – is the biggest news, because, put simply, it's the track where she comes for people. Nicki talks everything from surgery shaming to Remy's prison sentence ("what type of bum bitch shoot a friend over a rack?"), to Meek Mill (""Back to Back? Me and Drizzy laughed at that" – at which point I choked and died), and underlined her superlative wordplay by posting a lyric video on Twitter so that none of her double entendres go under the radar:

The other two tracks – the Lil Wayne-featuring "Changed It" and the slower change-of-pace "Regret In Your Tears," which sees a sung vocal from Minaj – are kind of extra baggage, and feel like they're there just for Nicki to show off in the versatility stakes, which is where she always wins, but "shETHER" was so brutal and out of the blue that it's hard to tell who's ahead now (although, one thing is for sure: it's not Meek Mill, perpetual taker of Ls).

We'll soon see, I'm sure, as Nicki signed off with a very straightforward Instagram post, giving Remy Ma 72 hours to respond, and offering her half a million dollars to book a show or an interview where Nicki isn't mentioned:

May the great rap beef of 2017 (and probably at least the last decade) roll on, not least so that it gives messy bitches on the internet something to occupy our time.
