The Last 'Trump' Casino in Atlantic City Is Closing

The last of the casinos bearing Trump's name in Atlantic City will close its doors after Labor Day weekend.

The Trump Taj Mahal Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey, will be closing down for good after Labor Day weekend, Politicoreports.

The news comes after a weeks-long strike by employees upset about cuts to their benefits and health insurance.

"Currently the Taj is losing multi-millions a month, and now with this strike, we see no path to profitability," Tropicana Entertainment CEO Tony Rodio said in a statement. "Unfortunately we've reached the point where we will have to close the Taj."

The resort is the last casino in Atlantic City to bear the Republican presidential nominee's last name, though it went bankrupt under Trump's ownership before being saved by his billionaire buddy Carl Icahn in 2014.

Even though Trump wasn't running it anymore, the closure is probably best understood as the latest in a long list of Very Bad News items for Trump this week, though the man himself would probably try to spin the whole thing into a convoluted example of his shrewd business savvy.
