Desus and Mero Sound Off on HBO's Upcoming Show About Slavery

The VICELAND hosts and most of Twitter were up in arms about 'Confederate,' an alt-history series being developed by the 'Game of Thrones' creators.

The end is near for our beloved series Game of Thrones, and HBO is already looking to fill the void it will leave behind. But the network's idea for a new show from GoT showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss isn't exactly what some would consider ideal.

On Wednesday, HBO announced that the Game of Thrones creators are developing a new show called Confederate, which follows an alternate reality where the South wins the Civil War and slavery becomes institutionalized. While TV execs might be thrilled about the new drama, many people—including VICELAND's Desus and Mero—aren't exactly thrilled about what they have deemed "Game of Slaves."

During Thursday's episode, the VICELAND hosts share their take on the controversial series—or what Desus calls "a documentary."

You can watch last night's Desus & Mero for free online now, and be sure to catch new episodes weeknights at 11 PM on VICELAND.
