Peter van Agtmael joined Magnum Photos in 2008 and became a full-time member in 2013.He has been awarded a W. Eugene Smith Grant, the International Center of Photography's Infinity Award for Young Photographers, the Lumix Freelens Award, and the Aaron Siskind Fellowship. Disco Night Sept 11, his book on America at war in the post-9/11 era, was shortlisted for the Paris Photo/Aperture Book Award and was positively reviewed by the New York Times Magazine, TIME, Vogue, and others. In this issue of VICE, he shares an exclusive selection of photos from his upcoming book, Buzzing at the Sill.

KYLE KRAMER

Kyle Kramer is an editor at Noisey, VICE's music vertical, whose work has been called "good"—no, "pretty good"—on at least one occasion. He covered artists including Chance the Rapper and Rae Sremmurd early in their careers, and co-produced the Noisey documentary  Lil B: Believe in Earth about the elusive rapper Lil B. Kramer is also blogging every day about Lil Wayne in a series called "A Year of Lil Wayne." He is best known around the VICE offices as the guy who won the staff hotdog-eating contest that one time, but here, he profiles Vince Staples.

ALICE McCOOL

London-born Alice McCool is currently making her way through southern and eastern Africa in a converted minibus. Her work has been published in the Guardian and the Economist, as well as VICE UK, Creators, and THUMP. Before journalism, McCool worked as an anti-corruption campaigner for Transparency International, which made her pretty good at talking her way out of a bribe. With the help of a young-journalist grant that she was awarded by One World Media, McCool reported on the fight for hemp legalization in Malawi for this issue.

BLYTHE ROBERSON

Blythe Roberson is a frequent contributor to the New Yorker's website and a headline contributor to the Onion, and also appears on ClickHole and Onion Video. She has written for McSweeney's, the Hairpin, and the public radio show Inflection Point. The New York Times, the Washington Post, and New York have covered her work. Roberson also co-hosts the monthly comedy show The Scientists at Union Hall. She works as a researcher at The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and she lives in Brooklyn. We're happy to introduce the first installment of her new, ongoing humor column for VICE.

GABRIEL THOMPSON

Gabriel Thompson lives in a rent-controlled apartment in Oakland, and so it is likely he will die there, too. He often writes about labor, and on assignment, he has torn apart chicken breasts at a poultry plant in Alabama and harvested iceberg lettuce in Arizona. His writing has appeared in the New York Times, New York, the Nation, and other places. He has written and edited five books; the most recent, due out in April, is an oral history of California farmworkers called  Chasing the Harvest. In these pages, he investigates the death of an inmate at an Arizona private prison.
