Moogfest announced the daytime lineup for the long-running music and technology festival today, and it's as jaw-dropping as its previously announced evening lineup. Dubbed "The Future Thought sessions," Moogfest's days will be packed with an array of workshops, panels, interviews, screenings, and demos that serve to cement its status as a leading hub for the growth of electronic music culture.

The fest will be chock full of the topics and craftsmanship that concern electronic music today. Panel discussions include sound artist Reggie Watts, composer and former Battles member Tyondai Braxton, and transgender rapper Mykki Blanco addressing Afrofuturism in electronic music, and YACHT's Claire Evans will lead a discussion on the history of feminism on the internet. There will also be a live broadcasted episode of Song Exploder, the radio show where artists take apart their songs, featuring production duo Odezsa.

Also in discussion will be the GZA talking about "Time Traveling in Hip Hop" and Laurie Anderson interviewed by Lower Dens' Jana Hunter. The Haxan Cloak, who scored a film that will debut at the Fest, will also be interviewed on stage by musician Leopold Ross.

That's just the tip of the iceberg. Legendary producer Daniel Lanois will give a masterclass on production technique. Sound artists Tim Hecker and Ben Frost will host a session on sound sculpting. The Orb will debut their film Lunar Orbit, which will be the only screening with the seminal British electronic group in conversation. Arp cofounder Daniel Shields will discuss the history of his synthesizer company with Moog's Cyril Lance and Korg's Tatsuya Takahashi. A live "hypnotic seance" will led by the scientific religious group The Church of Space, and the organic-electro label Data Garden will host a workshop on producing "bio-generated digital art." And this is only a handful of the numerous discussions, workshops, numerous film screenings, and a plethora of hardware demonstrations that are scheduled.

Moogfest also unveiled the "_substrate," app today. Created by The Haxan Cloak and the Durham-based tech firm Smashing Boxes, the tool turns the Moogfest website into an instrument. The _subtrate app allows the user to remix—visually, tactilely, and audibly—Haxan Cloak's own remix of singer/songwriter Mosey's Somney's cover of electronic matriarch Laurie Anderson's "O Superman," allowing the user to essentially create their own multi-sensory experience.

Moogfest will take place May 19-22 in Durham, North Carolina. To see the whole dizzying list, go to the Moogfest website.
