Russell Westbrook Avoids Kevin Durant Questions by Asking Reporters About Fashion

Westbrook would not let the press get him to talk about playing with Durant or the Warriors at the All-Star Game.

Friday was NBA All-Star media day, and one of the biggest questions out there is how Oklahoma City Tasmanian devil Russell Westbrook and his All-Star teammates from the Golden State Warriors will get along. In addition to former Thunder teammate Kevin Durant, Steph Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson are all on the Western Conference roster with Russ. It's a fair and obvious question, given how Durant jumped ship this season, the testy on-court interactions recently, and of course the general rivalry between the two squads over the past couple of years (before the Warriors blew a 3-1 lead to the Cavaliers, the Thunder blew a 3-1 lead to Golden State). Unfortunately, Russ is not about to give anyone the satisfaction of a sound byte. Rather than answer these questions, Westbrook turned the tables and started asking reporters about their fashion preferences.

An excerpt:

Reporter: Hey Russ, what's it gonna be like in that locker room with Durant?

Russ: Man, you know what? Fashion Week has been great. You seen Fashion Week? Been paying attention to Fashion Week?

After an adorable break from a little kid who thinks KD tanked OKC's chances at making the playoffs (Russ: "We gonna make the playoffs."), another reporter moved the question from the locker room to the court. Russ went back to the fashion well. Despite repeated attempts, Russ was undeterred; he wanted to get to the bottom of every reporter's fashion preferences.

Three times Russ responded to the same question with humor and self-awareness. Another triple-double.
