Trump's Star Tweet Originated on Racist Account
An image of Hillary Clinton and a six-pointed star, criticized as anti-Semitic after it was tweeted by Donald Trump, has been found to have originated on a Twitter account devoted to racism and bigotry. The Anti-Defamation League said it was "outraged to see that his campaign is sourcing material…from white supremacist websites and online sources."—NBC News

College Student Badly Hurt in Central Park Explosion
Police investigators suspect an explosion in Central Park in New York City that left a college student severely injured was caused by a homemade fireworks "experiment." Connor Golden, 18 years old, was climbing on a rock when the explosion took place. Doctors have amputated his injured leg below the knee.—The Washington Post|

Muslim Doctor Shot Outside Texas Mosque
A Muslim doctor headed for morning prayers on Sunday at a Houston mosque was shot in an attack by three men, according to police. The victim, eye doctor Arslan Tajammul, has undergone surgery and is expected to survive. Police have increased security outside the Madrasah Islamiah mosque.—ABC News

Police Hunt US College Student Missing in Rome
Italian police are searching for American college student Beau Solomon, 20, reported missing in Rome. Solomon vanished just hours after arriving in the Italian capital. The University of Wisconsin-Madison student was last seen at 1 AM on Friday in a bar in Piazza Trilussa, but his credit cards have been used since then.—CBS News

Baghdad Bombing Death Toll Rises to 200
The Iraqi government has declared three days of national mourning after a huge bomb attack in the Karada district of Baghdad at midnight on Saturday. The death toll rose to at least 200 on Monday morning, and the army said it will take several more days to recover the bodies of all victims. ISIS said it was responsible for the explosion.—Al Jazeera

Turkey Sends Gaza 10,000 Tons of Aid
A Turkish ship carrying more than 10,000 tons of humanitarian aid for Gaza has arrived in the Israeli port of Ashdod. It is the first shipment since 2010, and comes after an agreement between Turkey and Israel to restore relations. The food and clothing will arrive in Gaza in time for Eid celebrations marking the end of Ramadan.—The Guardian

Suicide Bombing Near US Consulate in Saudi Arabia
A suicide bomber was killed and two security officers were wounded in a blast near the US consulate in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah. The attacker detonated his device in a car outside a hospital opposite the consulate. Police carried out what appeared to be controlled explosions near the site.—Reuters

China Plans Military Drills in South China Sea
China will run a series of military drills in the disputed South China Sea this week, ahead of a ruling by an international court. The Permanent Court of Arbitration, based in The Hague, Netherlands, will issue a decision next week over a challenge made by the Philippines to China's claims on the region.—BBC News
