Dimitri Karakostas's Vacation Photos

Dimitri Karakostas has been called the "Real Life Bart Simpson," which is awesome, but he's also an excellent photographer who runs one of the best zines around: Blood of the Young.

You may remember Dimitri Karakostas from when our colleagues in the UK called him the "Real Life Bart Simpson," but that article has seemingly disappered from the internet, because, well, the internet is not your permanent storage space! That's a lesson you all should learn. That's not the lesson we're here to chat about with you today though, in fact, there is no lesson whatsoever. Just take a look at these excellent photos that Dimitri shot on his travels abroad while showing his work across Europe and in Morocco. Besides taking great photos of desert landscapes and girls on beaches, Dimitri runs the Blood of the Young zine, which has such exceptionally good taste it's almost bothersome.

Expect more from the Blood of the Young crew on VICE quite soon, but enough of our blather. Here's what Dimitri has to say about his work: "I fucking hate flying. Fuck, I just hate traveling all together. I get carsick really quickly, I have panic attacks on airplanes, and I usually freeze going through customs and wind up detained [note: thanks for getting us through to the UK, Jamie]. Sonia D'Argenzio (#1 lady in my life/respectable artist/wanderlust queen) and I wound up with nine exhibitions in seven countries during the summertime, so we flew a lot more than I may have liked- but at least I wound up with something more than a self-portrait with the Mona Lisa or posing with a foreign Big Mac."

I looked for it, and I don't even smoke weed.Dimitri Karakostas

Shit, I don't know if Sonia took this photo or if I did. Regardless, this is my pal Bryce at Palais de Tokyo- the most fun skate spot I found in Paris.Dimitri Karakostas

Joey Skilton makes the internet go crazy. Pink hair on a pink wall on a grey day in Glasgow… before getting the weirdest brunch at the place from Trainspotting. They love that movie, the Scots.Dimitri Karakostas

The first day on a multiple-month venture and I dunked my favorite camera in Iceland. One of maybe five exposures before that camera bit the dust. Shame.Dimitri Karakostas

The best part of Spain is the amount of beaches that are pretty much deserted- not that swimming topless is a concern on their mind, anyways.Dimitri Karakostas

Sonia really vibed her camel in the Sahara. Mine kept farting and made me itchy.Dimitri Karakostas

Casablanca might be one of the shittiest places on earth, but our hotel was pretty nice. Really got into watching the censored movies in Morocco- every kiss or embrace is cut out.Dimitri Karakostas

We watched a lot of Simpsons on my iPhone- and there's no good way to watch TV on your phone.Dimitri Karakostas

This is what good graffiti looks like.Dimitri Karakostas

After going for this swim, we got stopped by a full-on riot van of cops and detained as they asked for cash. We had nothing except for organic almonds and dates. They were pissed.Dimitri Karakostas

Always lagging behind while climbing shit. Dimitri Karakostas

I really liked Barcelona, so we wound up staying a few extra days. We switched into a really amazing hotel and drank our body weight in mojitos.Dimitri Karakostas

The desert is fucking scary at night- like the 'advanced darkness' they talked about on Spongebob.Dimitri Karakostas

Again, I get so fucking caught up on photographing tags. Anyone that etches 'dead dogs' into a fucking cactus is a #1 guy.Dimitri Karakostas

The TVs would cut out from Jane Eyre after hitting each bump all the way from Marseille to Nice. It's hypnotizing to watch.Dimitri Karakostas

This is what GREAT graffiti looks like.Dimitri Karakostas

Spain has more skate-spots than anywhere in the world and a lot of them are along the waterfront. We tried to improvise some shade between sidewalk-jams with no luck.Dimitri Karakostas

I love Greece, hate these little dirt-shantys. Making me feel some Saw II shit kidnapped and tortured vibe.Dimitri Karakostas
