Sidney Crosby Pays Family Surprise Visit at Their Home to Sign Jerseys

Crosby showed up unannounced after seeing a sign outside of their Nova Scotia home asking the Penguins' captain to sign a jersey.

Sidney Crosby is all class.

The Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, native is home for the offseason, and weeks after seeing a neighbour's sign inviting him in to sign a jersey, Crosby returned to the house unannounced to personally visit the family.

Darryl Pottie, who lives just 30 minutes from Crosby's Cole Harbour home, put up a sign reading "Sid please sign my jersey" upon realizing Crosby would be in town for Cup celebrations. Weeks after Crosby brought the Cup home, with still no visit from the superstar, the Pottie family took down the sign assuming the superstar was too busy for a family of fans.

But on Friday morning, while Darryl was away at work and the family was expecting no more than the cable guy, the Pottie family received a special visit from Crosby, who remembered the house despite the sign missing. Patricia Lingley-Pottie and her daughter Madisyn welcomed the legend into their home, where Crosby signed jerseys, took pictures, and chatted with the family to their pleasant surprise. The CBC has pictures of the visit, which lasted about 15 minutes

Although Darryl never got a chance to meet Crosby since he was at work, he appreciates the effort, nonetheless.

"He's the best hockey player in the world, an amazing guy, such an ambassador of the sport, an international superstar, and he takes the time just to drive into a guy's driveway and sign his jersey," Darryl said. "Just amazing."
