NORTHMIX: Charlie Darker

Taking you deep into the rabbit hole and back again is this exclusive mix by the former Montrealer.

In the timeless words of Dave Chappelle, "darkness is spreading!" Of course, when he said this he was posing as Rick James and talking about Charlie Murphy—but in this instance, we're talking about Toronto's rising electro house producer Charlie Darker.

Originally from Montreal, Charlie is part of the mini-renaissance occurring in the Canadian electro house scene. Together with acts Snails and Botnek, he has helped to bring innovation to a genre that has sorely needed it.

Combing explosive basslines, imaginative synth lines and refreshing drops, Darker has scored releases on storied labels including Mad Decent, Dim Mak, and Ministry of Sound. He was even handpicked by Wolfgang Gartner to release an EP on Gartner's own Kindergarten Recordings.

The newest entry in our Northmixseries features some of his unreleased tracks, bootlegs and remixes. But also includes a new collaboration with Aylen, a Zeds Dead remix, and sounds off his upcoming EP HMF, which is due out November 25.

Follow Charlie Darker on his Facebook and SounCloud for more updates, music and upcoming events.
