Jay Haze and ESB’s “Finding Oriya” is a Surrogate Acid Trip

Trippy. As. Fuck.

No. Nobody dosed your coffee this morning. Jay Haze's music video is just downright unusual.

Last November, THUMP talked to Jay in anticipation of his upcoming album, Finding Oriya, a collaborative and purely analog work with Vancouver native ESB. We posted that Mr. Haze likes to think far, far outside the box. And all the proof you'll need to back up that claim can be found in the music video for the track of the same name, "Finding Oriya." It is a certified trip-eight minutes of mind-bending visual art.

The "Finding Oriya" video links serene footage of crashing waves and an innocent young woman into a haunting, introspective work of art. The visual effects are slow and meticulous; making you feel like your soul has been turned inside out and you're forced to look at it in the mirror. The themes feel both personal and universal. Whoever Oriya is, Jay and ESB are doing you a favour in helping you try to find them.
