Dig Deep, Doom on: Bad Omen to Donate Profits from This Digital Sale to Standing Rock

Until December 8th, all proceeds from digital purchases through the label's Bandcamp page will be donated to the Standing Rock Sioux

British heavy music label Bad Omen Records has joined an industry-wide move amongst record labels, bands, and businesses who have pledged to send monetary support to the water protectors at Standing Rock Sioux and their allies in the #NoDAPL movement. Through December 8, the label's entire digital catalogue will be available at a pay-what-you-want price, and Bad Omen has pledged to donate all proceeds to Standing Rock for "legal, sanitary, and emergency purposes."

I highly recommend scooping up Wretch's brilliant self-titled debut, but there's plenty of hard-rocking goodness to be had. (You can always donate directly to the Standing Rock Sioux here, too, if doom's not your cup of tea). Despite the recent announcement that the Army Corps of Engineers has denied the Energy Transfer Partners' proposed route for the Dakota Access Pipeline, the fight is far from over, and Standing Rock still needs our support.

Bad Omen is home to a number of stellar heavy music bands, who run the gamut from low-slung stoner doom and screaming speed metal to hazy psych, bellbottomed 70s rock, and full-throated traditional doom. Several Noisey favorites—including Wretch and Satan's Satyr's—call the label home, and everything Bad Omen has on offer is guaranteed to be quality.

It's extremely heartening to see the hard rock and heavy metal communities reach out and support causes like this during these dark times. There's no better excuse to load up on harsh vibes and heavy riffs right now, so dig deep, and doom on.
