Angelic Being Beyoncé Has Established Scholarships for "Confident and Conscious" Female Students

Four women from four different US universities will benefit.

Just when you thought Beyoncé couldn't possibly save the world anymore (the woman is giving us a set of twins to pour collective love on in mere months), she comes through with a life-changing scholarship scheme that will benefit students from four different US universities. Because, in case you forgot, she's Beyoncé.

Bey is all about encouraging young women and their talent (see: here), and her new program, Formation Scholars—a joint venture with her management company Parkwood, launched to celebrate the one year anniversary of her opus Lemonade— which is open to women at Howard University, Parsons School of Design, Berklee College of Music and Spelman College for the academic year 2017-18, will only carry on that strong tradition in her work.

Formation Scholarships are available to young women studying in the disciplines of literature, music, creative arts, or African-American studies, all of which are subjects close to Beyoncé's heart, and which, as arts disciplines, are typically more under-funded than sciences. Applications are available via the individual universities.

Ever generous, not only does Beyoncé give us vital, enduring work herself, but it now looks like she's also going to be responsible for the next generation of girl geniuses. Which, actually, seems about right.
