The Greatest Simlish Covers of All Time

The world's biggest stars singing sheer gibberish.

What's Earth's most widely spoken language? Duh, Simlish, the gibberish language native to countless Sim civilizations worldwide. In fact, it's not just spoken: The Sims 2 and 3 soundtracks contain covers of chart-topping pop songs convincingly translated and recorded in Simlish. Nonsense versions of Lily Allen, Patrick Stump, Seether and more stay bumping throughout the Simverse, soundtracking Sim love affairs, marriages, break-ups and so on. As if you need any more proof that the late '00s were one of the most #based periods in human history, these covers were recorded in-studio by the original artists. Take a moment and reflect on the sessions in which some of the world's biggest stars stepped up to the mic and belted out lyrics like "Finchy zup lep sny/eby up obly maskoo," my attempt at transcribing the chorus of Katy Perry's Simlish rendition of "Last Friday Night." Diplo, if you're reading, please throw in one of these tracks next time you DJ a wedding and record the waves of panic settling over the audience as they try to sing along. Without further ado, here are five of the greatest Simlish covers ever, presented in the order of which artists I'd most like to play The Sims with.
