Last night Jay Z hosted another star studded attempt to gild the untouchable turd that is TIDAL. Generously the 'TIDAL X: 1020' was streamed live from the Brooklyn Barclays Center and was viewable for both the one million TIDAL subscribers it was thrown in celebration of, and the other 7.19 billion of us who don't use it. Really though, there’s only one clip you need to see: reigning queens Nicki and Bey tearing up the stage in a show so flames it’s surprising every other artist on the bill didn’t just stand up when it finished, wave a white flag, and get an Uber home.The brilliance of the "Feeling Myself" video was probably responsible for at least 90% of TIDAL’s users signing up in the first place and then forgetting to cancel their free trial, so it’s not really a surprise that it’s about 10x more stunningly powerful live, and watching these two operating at the top of their game with such thrilling precision and verve is a sheer fucking joy to watch.Every other minute here feels iconic. Bey flipping her blonde ponytail and bouncing across stage in a bubblegum bodysuit; choreography that sees both women engage their two armies of pink-and-black clad girls in a fearsome dance off; Nicki crouching low to spit lines about her empire into B’s face before they dissolve into laughter - all moments undoubtedly about to grace a thousand #squadgoals posts on Instagram."World, STOP!" commands Beyoncé mid-song, assuming a power stance.
