Former MLB Pitcher Scott Richmond Defends Himself Against Screaming Line Drive in China

Former MLB Scott Richmond made a ridiculous catch on a come-backer in the Chinese Professional League.

It's unlikely anyone ever warned Canadian man Scott Richmond about needing self-defense classes before he signed with the EDA Rhinos of the Chinese Professional League. So it's a good thing that Richmond apparently learned how to take care of himself along the way as a major leaguer with the Toronto Blue Jays from 2008-2012.

Pitching against Lamigo on Saturday night, Richmond ducked and reached for a screaming liner back to the mound, making a ridiculously ridiculous catch look nearly second nature.

Neo dodging bullets in "The Matrix." Mr. Miyagi grabbing flies with chopsticks. Dr. Strange doing whatever. All made up. This was real. Of course, the Chinese announcers make it all sound even cooler (at least to Western ears). The Chinese network airing the game even uses Fox Sports's baseball music (which is probably licensed and above board and stuff).

Richmond appeared in 36 games with Blue Jays over four seasons, but he never made the major league highlight reel quite like this.
