Top Billin's Sharkslayer Mixed Up Some Bangers

Our Labels in Residence series continues with Helsinki's modest club king.

Welcome to THUMP's Labels in Residency series, where an esteemed record label takes over our (CMS) decks, showering DJ mixes on you like manna from heaven. Crank the foam machine, lower the disco ball, and check back here often—there'll be a different party every two weeks. Up to bat: Helskinki's modest club kings, Top Billin.

This is the second edition of our Labels in Residency series, where we let our favorite record labels flood us with their tastiest music for two straight weeks. The cool cats at Kitsuné kicked everything off earlier this month—check out the mixes they made us right here. Next up: Top Billin, the self-professed "modest club kings" of Europe. The Helsinki-based label has been churning out gigantic party tunes for the last seven years, specializing in that specific type of song we like to call, for lack of a better term, "motherfucking bangers." The imprint started out in 2006, dominating the blogosphere with Baltimore-influenced neo-electro, and has since expanded to house, hip-hop, Jersey club, and dancehall tracks united under a common purpose: flipping on your party mode switch.

Morales, Mad Villains, Jack the Hustler and MRTN have all seen recent releases. But Top Billin's inaugural THUMP mix is straight from the label's bossman himself—Sami Nenola, aka Sharkslayer—and was made in the inspiringly-titled Thundercunt Studios in Helsinki.

Don't let the name fool you. Sharkslayer isn't out to destroy our sharp-toothed friends. Not the aquatic kinds, at least. Just the bloodthirty corporate-types who he says are "ruining the shit for the rest of us." Plainly inspired by the spectacular theatrics of arena festivals—he even claims to ride a bald eagle to all his shows—Sharkslayer pumped this mix with dancefloor killers both old and new. Look out for blasts of immediate thrills from the likes of Kove, D. Ramirez, Jay Lumen, and of course, a few propulsive house anthems from the man himself. Plus, he's giving away two of his latest, "Everybody Go Eeh" and "Killa Bees Party Tool." Download them exclusively below.
