Earlier this year, THUMP reported that techno legend Robert Hood was teaming up with Amsterdam label/party Dekmantel for an ambitious project that included a series of linked EPs and an album all under the banner of "Paradygm Shift." The first in that series was released earlier this year, and now the second EP is due to drop in a couple of weeks.

Paradygm Shift Vol. 2 continues the maximal / minimal techno dichotomy that Hood has explored with the series. Side A's "Master Jack" is founded on a techno groove populated with synth stabs and electronic flourishes, while the flip side's "Magnet" does away with all but the sparest techno elements of beat and melodic sequences.

"We can become so complacent; we are so comfortable with our surroundings," Hood said in a prepared statement. "this is the time for electronic music to find a new mindset."

Dekmantel will release Paradygm Shift Vol. 2 on June 6. Preorder a copy here and listen to snippet of the record below.
