The ninth edition of Montreal's Igloofest set the record for the coldest temperature in the festival's history. With the weather dropping as low as minus 23 degrees Celsius, one would half expect the frostbite-inducing winds to curtail the partying, right? Not so, in fact the 2015 edition of Igloofest brought over 74,000 attendees."We never experienced so many consecutive nights that were so cold at Igloofest," said General Director and co-founder Nicolas Cournoyer. "But it's also why we chose this time of year. To create an event that wants to celebrate winter and invites people to take the season back. And when more than 74,000 people answer the call and come to dance in such conditions, that tells us that the gamble wasn't so crazy and that people are ready to go out when we give them a good reason to do so."One look at the packed lineup and it's clear that there was more than a "good reason" to brave the grueling temperatures. From Flosstradamus and Oliver Heldens to Dubfire and John Digweed, the streets of Montreal partied for four weekends in a row. We've compiled our favourite mixes from this year's edition below. The unimitable Cadenza founder closed out Igloofest in the middle of a blizzard, which was fitting, because his set was a swirling storm of frenzied techno goodness.Luciano - Igloofest 2015-02-08 by Piknic Electronik / Igloofest on MixcloudThe monarch of minimal techno provided ample reason as to why he still holds the crown with this dark, brooding, and enthralling mix.Dubfire - Igloofest 2015-02-06 by Piknic Electronik / Igloofest on MixcloudCanadian DJs Ponsolo and Ledisko linked up to deliver a dastardly dish of modern house, providing an appropriately epic end to weekend number two.Ponsolo b2b Ledisko - Igloofest 2015-01-24 by Piknic Electronik / Igloofest on MixcloudOne of Canada's hottest rising stars is Vancouver's Ekali. His eclectic blend of groove-inducing hip-hop, R&B, and bass blew the metaphorical roof off the festivities. Find out why below.Ekali - Igloofest 2015-01-23 by Piknic Electronik / Igloofest on MixcloudMontreal native Dave Luxe is just so French, but there's something totally endearing about his mix of future funk and contemporary bass music. Just listen to his opening track, where a French rapper drops verses over the Madden theme song. Incredible.Dave Luxe - Igloofest 2015-01-23 by Piknic Electronik / Igloofest on Mixcloud
