Konx-Om-Pax's Planet Mu Mix Is Stacked With 20 Years of Experimental Bangers

The Glasgow-based artist fills his Planet Mu 20th anniversary mix with his favorite tracks—and some unreleased numbers.

Once a week for the next four weeks, we're dropping a Planet Mu mix that digs deep into the label's storied roster in honor of its 20-year anniversary. First up was Ital Tek, who focused on his favorite gems on the label from 2005 to 2008—including the first track he ever wrote.

Planet Mu's Mike Paradinas On 20 Years of Flawless Tastemaking: "It's Always An Instinctive Thing For Me"

Today, we've got Konx-Om-Pax, aka Tom Scholefield, a key figure in Glasgow's electronic music scene. (The alias comes from a mysterious phrase found in ancient religious texts—we're not sure how to pronounce it either.) Scholefield runs a studio and label for experimental noise records called Display Copy, and is also a pretty ace animator and visual artist, with designs for powerhouses like Warp, Underground Resistance, Mogwai, OneohtrixPointNever, and Hyperdub under his belt.

For his Planet Mu mix, Scholefield describes the selection as "all my favorites from the label since it began up until new stuff from myself that's coming out eventually. I love the old Jega stuff especially because it's super rough and has loads of energy. I've also got the original pressing of 'Pop Pop' and still play it out loads. Stuck the Landstrumm track in because I had a funny time driving about fields in Neil [Landstrumm]'s landrover shooting the video years ago."
