The last time we heard from Detroit techno legend Robert Hood, he was telling us about how God inspired one of his his Floorplan alias' classic records, "We Magnify His Name." Yesterday, news broke of his next move: three forthcoming EPs and an album for Amsterdam dance music institution Dekmantel, collected under the title "Paradygm Shift."

Although no one could rightly accuse Hood of slacking (now or ever), he aims to push himself even harder on this next set of releases. The ambitious goal is to innovate a whole new direction in electronic music: "The idea behind 'Paradygm Shift' is similar to a shift in our focus," he explains in the press release. "We can become so complacent; we are so comfortable with our surroundings, I think this is the time for electronic music to find a new mindset.''

Giving more background for the shift, he says, "'I have been busy with my Floorplan alias and reintroducing Monobox over the years, but at the same time I felt it necessary to reiterate Robert Hood as an electronic music artist who is bringing minimalism back in the forefront, and not to get lost in the melody." Furthermore, he declares, "I want to get back to the simple repetitive programming that I'm known for, and to me it was returning to that, but shifting the listeners' focus and not staying on this plane like we are used to."

As of now, the only release to be detailed at all is the first EP. It will be titled Paradygm Shift Volume 1, featuring "Form" on the A-side and "Lockers" on the B-side, and it's due for release February 22. You can pre-order and listen to snippets here.
