Darkest Hour Stick to Their Guns on Their Ferocious New Album

Stream the DC melodeath/metalcore stalwarts' ripping Southern Lord debut, 'Godless Prophets & the Migrant Flora'

DC melodic death metal/metalcore journeymen Darkest Hour have been around long enough to witness the many peaks and valleys of their chosen field in metal, from its inception and spread from Gothenburg, Sweden to its commercial peak, to its djent-ification and beyond. Lucky for all of us, the quintet have stuck to their guns through the thick and thin, and luckier still, their weaponry takes the form of their crushing new album Godless Prophets & the Migrant Flora, an awesomely wordy title that'd also make a good YA novel franchise name.

From the jump, Darkest Hour dig into a melodeath sweet spot that's neither extremely abrasive nor cloyingly polished. "Timeless Numbers" is an early highlight, guitar riffs tangling up within each other to be followed into heavier sections. First single "Those Who Survived" is a monster, yet even it's overshadowed by the subsequent ultra-chug of "Another Headless Ruler of the Used."

As guitarist Mike Schleibaum told us, "We are beyond excited to present to you our new album, Godless Prophets & The Migrant Flora, in its entirety. We have been hinting at the larger picture on this album both lyrically and sonically and now here is your chance to hear the full album first. The first few singles that were released are all from the A side of the album, but there is so much more to explore as you dig into all these tracks. To me some of the strongest songs are yet to have been heard by the public including the few tracks that were co-written by our past guitarist Kris Norris. If you're a Darkest Hour fan we know you are going to love this album as it is distinctly Darkest Hour. If you're undecided, well please, by all means, hit play and crank it up, this is our gift to you, a soundtrack for survival in this modern age. "

The album drops via Southern Lord on March 10. You can listen to all of Godless Prophets below, and ascend.
