Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker announced this week that his groundbreaking sci-fi anthology show will be coming in a "high-tech 'paper' format" thanks to a new deal with Penguin Random House, BBC reports.The first of three planned Black Mirror books is slated to drop early next year and will be split up into three smaller novellas, each written by different "leading fiction writers," according to Penguin Random House. Brooker will be on-hand to edit the stories himself.The new book series will be based on the hit show, but will tell original stories, so we're not just in novelization territory here, which means they probably won't have that great glossy insert with full-color photos. We may never find out if Blue catches that vengeful robo bee hacker, or the identity of the mystery inmate Lacie ends up imprisoned next to, but we will have brand-new, terrifying stories to tide us over in these brutally long gaps between seasons."[The new books] take the very essence of the globally acclaimed cult TV show to create new, original, darkly satirical stories that tap into our collective unease about the modern world," Penguin Random House writes.The first of the series is slated for release February 2018, which eager fans can preorder online now. The second will follow that summer, and the third will hit stores in 2019. In the meantime, Netflix is supposed to drop the fourth season of Black Mirror sometime this year, but an official release date has yet to be announced.
