'Roseanne’ Is Coming Back Without Roseanne

ABC have ordered 10 episodes of 'The Conners,' but the show's original star will have no creative or financial involvement.

ABC have just announced a new Roseanne spinoff called The Conners, that will premier later this year without Roseanne Barr. The network cancelled the Roseanne revival following Barr’s racist tweets last month. The comedian will have no creative or financial hand in the new series.

After the cancellation of the revival, fans were vocal about the impact the actions of Barr would on the 200 member strong cast and crew who were out of a job. In a statement executive producer Tom Werner said he was grateful to “continue to explore stories of the Conner family.”

The cast also issued a joint statement that read: “We have received a tremendous amount of support from fans of our show, and it’s clear that these characters not only have a place in our hearts, but in the hearts and homes of our audience,”

The Conners will see the return of John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, and Michael Fishman. It’s not yet known how they’ll write Barr out of the new show. The networks announcement only detailed: “After a sudden turn of events, the Conners are forced to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford in a way they never have before.”
