Timothée Chalamet Is an Awkward Weed Dealer in the Trailer for 'Hot Summer Nights'

More like Timo-THC, am I right?

Timothée Chalamet has had a pretty bonkers year. Everybody's new internet boyfriend nabbed an Oscar nom for his role as a pining love-sick teen in Call Me by Your Name, savagely roasted just about every mid-2000s alt-boy as a Howard Zinn-reading, clove-smoking, self-serious bad boy teen in Lady Bird, got to have a lovely conversation with Frank Ocean, and became a lyric in a Tyler, the Creator song.

Now it looks like Chalamet is continuing his quest to play every high school archetype imaginable—this time as a nerdy kid who sells weed to be cool in A24's Hot Summer Nights.

In the new trailer, Chalamet plays Daniel, a kid in the early 90s who gets shipped off to Cape Cod for the summer. When he can't quite fit into the elite yuppie world, he finds himself under the wing of a local drug dealer, who recruits him to start slinging dope to the neighborhood rich kids. The new summer job apparently pays off, and soon he finds himself in a summer romance with a girl played by Maika Monroe, from It Follows. Unfortunately, Monroe's character also happens to be the younger sister of Daniel's drug dealer boss, and the weed business begins spiraling out of control. The usual hijinks ensue.

Hot Summer Nights was directed by first-time director Elijah Bynum and premiered at SXSW this year, with Consequence of Sound calling it Bynum's "muscular, suave, and assured debut." It also stars Thomas Jane, William Fichtner, and Alex Roe alongside Chalamet and Monroe.

The movie will be available exclusively on DIRECTV on June 28 and then hit theaters on July 27. Until then, give the trailer a watch above.
