Introducing 'Upstarts,' a Series About Breaking the Status Quo

Profiles of people who are pushing the limits of what’s possible in Indonesia, made in conjunction with GO-JEK.

Technology. It's all around us, but have you ever wondered how much of it actually comes from Indonesia? In "Upstarts," our second series made with GO-JEK, we meet some of the people working to redefine expectations in Indonesia. These are the people who are kicking back against the status quo and challenging what people thought was possible.

We meet Miebi Sikoki, a mad inventor whose work at Digital Nativ rides the line between high-tech and high-art. Digital Nativ's creations show what is possible in Indonesia, and help Miebi get closer to his dream of inspiring others to turn the country's into the region's next hub for tech hardware innovation.

And then we take to the skies with the team at AeroTerrascan, who are making their own fleet of drones out of their workshop in Bandung, West Java. We tag along inside the danger zone as the team sends their drone high above Bali's Mount Agung to get shots of an erupting volcano.

We'll be premiering both episodes this week. If you want to see more of "Upstarts," let us know in the comments on your socials or by tweeting at both us and GO-JEK with the hashtag #upstarts.

We hope you enjoy the show.
