In the episode, Cynthia Nixon's character, Miranda, gallantly appears to tell the cop that Carrie is an "extremely law-abiding citizen" and begs for leniency, but it doesn't work—the cop still hits Carrie with a ticket.Carrie may have gotten busted back then, but it looks like Cynthia Nixon still hasn't given up the fight for New Yorkers' rights to blaze. On Wednesday, the former SATC star turned NY gubernatorial candidate dropped a video officially announcing her support for legalizing weed in the state.

"I believe it’s time for New York to follow the lead of eight other states and DC and legalize the recreational use of marijuana," Nixon says in the minute-and-a-half-long clip. "There are a lot of good reasons for legalizing marijuana, but for me, it comes down to this: We have to stop putting people of color in jail for something that white people do with impunity."The short video basically expands on what Nixon has already said about her stance on legal weed and makes a succinct and compelling case for reform."In addition to ending a key front in the racist war on drugs," she continues, "regulating and taxing marijuana will generate hundreds of millions of dollars of tax revenue for our people, and create important agricultural opportunities for our state."This kind of strong, clear-headed pro-weed stance basically blows away any half-assed attempts to study marijuana or whatever Governor Cuomo has floated in the past, so hell yeah, Cynthia Nixon.
