Seth Rogen Offered to Replace Morgan Freeman as Voice of Vancouver Transit

Freeman likely won’t be doing the campaign anymore in light of the sexual harassment allegations against him.

The glee over the idea of Morgan Freeman’s voice making SkyTrain announcements in Vancouver this summer was short-lived, as a new CNN investigation revealed eight women have accused the actor of sexual harassment.

Freeman was slated to make announcements over the SkyTrain’s PA system at certain stops during the summer, part of a VISA campaign that will allow passengers to pay their fares via tapping. But following news reports about Freeman’s alleged misconduct, which includes accusations of unwanted touching and sexist comments, Vancouver’s transportation network TransLink announced it is rethinking using the actor’s voice.

“In light of information we’ve learned through news stories this morning of serious allegations against actor Morgan Freeman, TransLink has decided to pause his voice announcements as part of a VISA ad campaign on the transit system,” the organization said in a statement issued Thursday.

Now it looks like Vancouver native Seth Rogen has a chance to take Freeman’s place. In response to a suggestion from The Province reporter Stephanie Ip, Rogen tweeted, “Yo if they need a replacement now let me know.”

TransLink responded by tweeting “Thanks for the offer Seth. Let’s DM and talk,” to which Rogen replied, “Hit me up.”

The voice of Bong is probably more appropriate for Vancouver than the voice of God anyway.
