These Photos Are an Antidote to All the Bikini Pics That Get Us Down

Solomon Mortimer captures the true characters of a New Zealand summer.

The more it heats up, the more our feeds become flooded with impossibly tanned, sculpted and decadent people strutting around in…well, nothing much at all most of the time. Even after the "fake before-and-after" trend revealed just how far from candid these pictures are—sometimes we can’t help but feel a wee bit shit about ourselves as we endlessly scroll. Which is just silly, or to put it bluntly, a bloody waste of time.

This series shot by Kiwi photographer Solomon Mortimer is an antidote to all this. Whether they’re dressed in iconic stubbies or have a fresh catch in hand, here are the more low-key and relatable characters of a New Zealand summer. No photoshopped butts or tactical lighting needed.
