Last week São Paulo played host to the largest music festival in the world: Tomorrowland. Our Brazilian colleagues were there in full force. They spent the week in some exceptional musical company; sunglasses on, soaking up the deep house, happily draining beers in the sweltering heat. They also noted that these were the perfect conditions for festival goers to try and show as much skin as possible. For a mega global EDM event, it is only logical that the bros in attendance jumped at the opportunity to parade their flesh for the weekend.
Creativity has very few limits when it comes to tattooing. The eternal quest for individuality has become increasingly difficult in our times, so much so that to truly exercise adolescent nonconformity through irreversible ink, people need truly original aesthetic concepts, whatever they may be. On the last weekend in Maeda Park, THUMP stopped to observe and admire some of the thousands of exposed tattoos on the bodies of attendees. Some great, some bizarre, some so profoundly crap they became wonderful the longer we looked. Diversity was the tone, acceptance was the theme, so enjoy.
