David Byrne, the man whose former band, Talking Heads, introduced paranoia to indie dance grooves, is returning with his first solo-ish effort since the literally horny St. Vincent collab Love This Giant in 2012. He's releasing American Utopia on March 9, and he's shared the first single from the album, "Everybody's Coming to My House" (*James Murphy voice* "myyyy house").
The song, produced and written in tandem with Byrne's forever buddy Brian Eno, is typically funky and danceable, but also as per usual, his panicked performance gives the track jitteriness instead of freedom. As Byrne explains in a press release, the album is about "the world we have made for ourselves. We look around and we ask ourselves – well, does it have to be like this? Is there another way? These songs are about that looking and that asking." Listen to "Everybody's Coming to My House" above.
