London's Most Talked About Venue, Printworks, Just Announced Their New Season

It's understandable. You don't want to concede that summer is over yet. There are still a couple of Fabs in a cardboard box at the bottom of the freezer, and while you've only worn those actually quite expensive shorts a grand total of twice, there's normally a late-August surge… isn't there? They don't call it Scorchtember for nothing! Somebody fetch me the sun-cream; according to my weather app there's a window of patchy sunshine between 4 and 5 this afternoon, and I don't want to miss a minute!

No: best to admit defeat, mate. It's over. It's done. And to be honest, who needs it? October, that's when the real fun starts. Just ask Printworks.

After a screamer of a debut season, South-East London's most talked about venue is back with their first lineup announcements for "Issue 002" – their next run of nights. The multidisciplinary arts space, tucked away in the former docklands of Canada Water, will open its doors again for ten weeks between October and December. The momentum the venue built earlier this year looks set to continue well into 2018.

First and foremost, Printworks makes sense as a techno venue. The sheer size of the building, and its former life as a printing-press, make it the ideal habitat for acidic beats and hulking, industrial weapons. Thankfully, with an October opening party featuring Ellum Audio man Maceo Plex, Berlin mainstay Rødhåd and the UK's hardest working techno DJ, Daniel Avery, neither of those will be in short supply. The three will be joined by the steely tones of a Vril live set, Monoloc, Fort Romeau, rising Belgian selector Charlotte de Witte and Italian brothers Mind Against.

From there, you've got a week to recover before South Africa's most exciting export, Black Coffee, takes to the stage for a five-hour set. As the strongest proponent of SA house, and a man who has fast became one of the most in demand house DJs internationally, it'll be a welcome chance to see him with an extended platform.

Following that, Printworks have announced they will be handing the reins over to esteemed party-people The Hydra, who will no doubt put together a lineup even more impressive than last year's Motor City Drum Ensemble-led night, this time in collaboration with everyone's favourite London-imprint Ninja Tune. Then, the week after that, the venue will be playing host to a 25th birthday celebration for Andy C's Ram Records, with full details of acts yet to be revealed.

So stop trying to read your book in the garden, and get your puffer jacket out of the wardrobe. We'll see you in October.
