We’re Throwing a Week of London Events and You’re Invited

Calling all budding photographers, journalists, doc makers and general music lovers: we've got your week sorted.

What are you doing this week? Maybe going to the pub with people but you’re not sure yet? Watching a Netflix documentary about whether 9/11 was an inside job? Throwing some pre-sliced peppers in a tortilla and calling it enchiladas for Valentines Day? I don’t know – I don’t know you – but what I do know is that Noisey are throwing a bunch of free events this week, from 13 to 18 February, at the Ace Corner Shop, opposite the Ace Hotel in Shoreditch (as part of a weeklong takeover in conjunction with Napapijri). And you’re invited.

If you’ve always wanted to know how to get into music journalism or photography, making music documentaries – y'know, if you’ve enjoyed some of our films over the years (such as Don't Call It Road Rap, Britain’s Illegal Rave Renaissance, Noisey Blackpool and its sequel Noisey Blackpool 2) or are just generally a music nerd who wants to sip drinks at our party, then any one of these events might be for you.

We'll be kicking things off Tuesday, from 6PM to 7PM, with our Noisey Guide to Making It in Music Media. It'll see our editorial team in conversation about how to make sense of online music writing today, before you'll hear from two freelance photographers, who work with us, on how they broke through with their portraiture and reportage work and how you could do the same. From 6PM to 7PM on Wednesday our video team will lead the Noisey Guide to Music Documentary Making: an interactive chat taking a look at the work of both Noisey and other prominent music doc makers, answering the questions you always wanted to ask and looking to the future of the scene.

Then on Friday, from 5PM to 6PM, we’ll be throwing a Noisey Future of Music Quiz, which will basically be our version of your standard pub quiz but much less dry, all about music and with more swag to be won. And then on Saturday, if you just want to kick back and watch some shit, you can come for Noisey Documentary House, where we’ll be screening a bunch of our fave, most acclaimed docs from over the years, for a full seven hours from 12PM to 7PM (with breaks, obviously). Book a place and soothe your hangover with some moving pictures.

So yeah, forget all those half-baked plans and come do something fun and possibly even useful instead. See you there!
