TESTING - UKG Legend Groove Chronicles Takes Us Stateside on Exclusive New Mix

A UKG stalwart gets his groove on with strict, tough 90s house cuts.
Noodles, right, with the legendary Steve Gurley.

Steve Jude, aka Noodles, is probably better known to most of us as the man who initially hid behind the Groove Chronicles moniker with proto-dubstep don EL-B. B flew the nest in 1999 to pursue moodier terrain, leaving Noodles to keep putting out the kind of snaking, slinky garage that sounds as fresh now as it did in the days of champers and Moschino in the club.

UK garage never really vanished - it mutated, grew and altered. It's something that's been romanticised, anthologised and commemorated before its even been put to rest. The likes of Noodles keep the flag flying for the genre, playing shows to faces fresh from scanning glossy retrospectives in Dazed to the heads who were 2-stepping down at Twice As Nice way back when. Naturally, THUMP was delighted when he offered to drop us a mix. We expected an hour of bump'n'flex UKG classics. What we got was a sparkling set of chunky 90s US house and garage - a mix that's perfectly tuned for late night cruising.

Catch Noodles in the mix alongside Maddslinky and Mike Ruff Cut Lloyd at the next Club Jum Jum on the 30th of January - tickets available here.
