A Year of Lil Wayne: Easter Clean

Featuring Nicki Minaj's amazing lyricism.

Day 208: "Sweet Dreams" feat. Nicki Minaj – No Ceilings, 2009

Why this song today? Well let's start with the obvious: No Ceilings is sort of what Easter, the day of Christ ascending to Heaven, is kind of all about. Er, also the obvious of Wayne raps that he's "Easter clean." And he says, "You might want say a prayer or two / so cold I need Theraflu / I'm so high I need parachutes," which is kind of on the same ascendant theme. And then there's Nicki Minaj, who's rapping at jet plane altitudes and rattling off punchlines like, um, little Easter eggs for the recent history buffs. She makes a joke about Plaxico Burress shooting himself in the leg and then references Kung Fu Panda. And then there's the best Easter egg of all: It's all over a Beyoncé song. How great is that? Enjoy this beautiful spring day!
