Seven out of eight men labelled part of a cocaine gang in the southeast of England were sentenced to a collective 60 years in prison on Friday, after being caught out by the "meticulous records" kept by their reported ringleader.

Between September 2015 and April this year, police from both Kent Police and the Met's Organised Crime Command say they arrested and charged 16 people, after uncovering about 70kg of high-purity coke and 26kg of Benzocaine.

One of the group, 29-year-old Peter Jones, had been keeping a "drugs ledger", detailing the gang's deals and profits. Police pinpointed Jones as one of the leaders, and he's been given a 15-year sentence.

Robert Wylie, Gary Fox, Majkelli Pire, Chase Moore and Michael Xenofontos were also sentenced on Friday, while IIir Krasniqi (who'll be sentenced later) and Xhulio Haidare were identified as two other "leading figures".

Residents of the area around Twickenham Stadium have voiced their concern about the proposed influx of "repulsive" rugby fans if the stadium's proposed expansion is to go through.

The planned £54 million expansion of the 82,000-seater's east stand has left locals wringing their hands about the car park near the stadium being overrun by the rugby crowd as well as concertgoers and gym users.

"The car park is filled with unauthorised vehicles which choose to park in our privately owned car park parking spaces," wrote Tony Robinson, of Butterfield Close Residents' Association, to Richmond Council, "and – worse still – our private grounds are consistently used as a public toilet area." A local resident also said she'd "counted 11 different people urinate literally outside my front window, against the wall of my flat," according to the Evening Standard.

The plan is due to be discussed at a Richmond council meeting this week, and would be finalised by autumn 2018 if given the green light.

Thousands of people in Santa-themed fancy dress filled the streets of London on several different routes, for the annual street-drinking and carol-singing of Santacon.

"Don't be THAT Santa," read rules sent out by the organisers before people set off at midday on Saturday. "Be Jolly! Be merry! Enjoy the surreal silliness of 3,000 Santas thronging the streets of London! But make sure your merriment doesn't become another's grief."

Several tabloids reported on alleged public urination and drinking, but the Met Police made no mention of arrests, going so far as to remind Santas to "only use the pavement" and not walk in the road.

Two bombs were detonated in quick succession in Istanbul by a football stadium on Saturday night, two hours after a match had ended. From about 10.30PM, a car bomb reportedly targeting a police vehicle was set off, followed closely by a suicide bomber self-detonating. In total 38 people were killed – 30 of them reportedly police officers – while at least 160 were reported injured.

"Istanbul had once again witnessed the ugliest face of terror stepping on all values and morals," Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in a statement. "Together with the help of Allah, as a country and a nation, we will overcome terror, terror organizations, terrorists and the powers behind them."

Some senior government officials speculated that Turkey's PKK party may have been behind the twin bombings, but on Sunday evening militant group the Kurdistan Freedom Hawks claimed responsibility for the attack.
