World's Greatest Rock Band Sleater-Kinney have been covering Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Fortunate Son" for at least a dozen years. Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker carry the same furious protest in their voice that John Fogerty's Southern howl did at CCR's peak. It's a Vietnam-era song that snaps the present into focus when hammered out with the right abandon.Sleater-Kinney co-headlined a benefit show for Planned Parenthood in Washington DC last night, sharing the top of the bill with The National.
