Today in delayed gratification, Texas post-hardcore visionaries At the Drive-In have not only announced a new album(!) but also went ahead and released a new song(!!) from that very same album called "Governed by Contagions." Though it lacks some of the fleet-footedness of the band's prior material, the song still definitely sounds like the band that last left us with the much-celebrated 2000 masterwork  Relationship of Command, and Cedric Bixler-Zavala can still yell up a storm, especially when he's delivering such traditionally Bixler-Zavala lyrics as "portrait of a family force fed through tunnel straws / singing cannibal hymns of the bourgeoise."

At the Drive-In reunited in 2012 after breaking up in 2001, with Bixler-Zavala and guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez embarking on the prog-rock explorations of the Mars Volta in the interim. The band made a point of saying they wouldn't release new material but it looks like they've changed their minds. This can hopefully mean only good things. Listen to "Governed by Contagions" below.
