Are Bloc Party Actually Breaking Up This Time?

Could this abstract sketch mean they are no more?

After months of rumours about how much Bloc Party all hate each other, the nail in the coffin may actually be a squiggle in a guestbook. After Kele’s candid interview with the Guardian in which he admitted that being in Bloc Party, "isn’t always the easiest thing”, the great British foursome may have finally signed themselves off forever.

Last month the band played Rock-A-Field festival in Luxembourg. Asked to sign the festival's guestbook, they apparently wrote, “BLOC PARTY IS DEAD. BYE BYE!” They have fulfilled their touring commitments since, but by the sounds of this, it may be the last summer you get to see the band.

It won’t be the first time Bloc Party have called a hiatus. After their pretty difficult third album, they split for three years amid rumours that they couldn't stand each other. There was some beef with NME about how Kele was being replaced and all hell broke loose before they got their acts back together and released the very commendable Four. But last month, Russell said the band would go on another hiatus of up to two years after their shows at Latitude. This pic suggests things might be more permanent.

We can't be 100% sure they wrote this, although looking at this autograph we reckon it could be Russell's handwriting. Bloc Party are known for fucking with people, and Kele has recently said they're not all agreed on a hiatus, so this could well be a joke. But we get the sense from their recent neggy vibes that this could be the end.
