You Haven't Heard Trap Like Kadiata's "Dumb" Before

The South Londoner self-produces a unique blend of twisted and infectious trap—one that feels far more at home here, in Britain, than anywhere else.

Oi, you lot. In case you've been sleeping, here's a quick catch up on Kadiata. He's 22 years old, he's from South London, and he self produces a unique blend of twisted, infectious trap—one that feels far more at home here, in Britain, than anywhere else. It's music that bangs in the backseat of a smoked-out Vauxhall Astra as much as it does in the club.

Last year we premiered Kadiata's track "Goodnight," a track that served as an introduction to the twilight zone, street-lit atmospherics his music encapsulates. Today, Kadiata releases a new track called "Dumb"—and, in all honesty, he's not messing around. His flow drives forward like a hot knife slicing through butter; his hooks latch like a bed bug that refuses to leave its host body. By the time the second verse concludes, the melting pot Kadiata is quickly becoming known for is evident. There's a flow that's almost grime like in its movement, a sound laid into the instrumental that sounds halfway between some bag-pipes and the ringtone of a dealer's burner phone, but then it all backs up into a hook that's so addictive it's difficult to deny its potential to compete with some of the scene's more established trap artists.
