JAI PAUL COVERED JENNIFER PAIGE

Over the weekend a collection of Jai Paul material leaked all over the internet. Although there's still no official word from XL or Jai himself (we can expect to see a statement from Jai later today) the record features a handful of new material, noteably a gorgeous cover of Jennifer Paige's "Crush" that sounds like it's been forged from a goodie bag of pharmaceuticals and love hearts. A track that is so mind bendingly beautiful, I'd like to crush it up and ingest it so that it can be a part of my being.

R KELLY TEAMED UP WITH PHOENIX AT COACHELLA

Did anyone see this coming? I last cared about R.Kelly around the time he was coming hot and fresh out the kitchen. It's impossible to hate anyone when "Ignition" plays. That song is a beautiful thing. Anyway, over the weekend Phoenix brought old Kellz out to join them for a mash-up of "Ignition" and "1901" proving that, in 2013, mash-ups are still a thing.

DAFT PUNK TEAMED UP WITH PHARRELL AND NILE RODGERS

The biggest news of the weekend comes from Daft Punk. Not to discredit every other band on the planet today, but when these two fashion-foward robots releases a snippet of new material, you best believe that they're going to hit the headlines before your shitty music video does. Daft Punk commandeered video screens around Coachella to air a short clip of them, Nile Rodgers and Pharrell in a sequins and slap-bass den of dreams. I've probably listened to the loop about 30 times over the last five hours.

MNEK COVERED ATOMIC KITTEN

It's been a good couple of weeks for Atomic Kitten. First they got a slot on ITV2's Big Reunion tour, earning them enough cash to keep them off reality TV for another five years. Then over the weekend MNEK mixed their seminal hit "Whole Again" with Des'ree's 1994 classic "You Gotta Be". MNEK's track, ingeniously titled "Gotta Be Whole Again", is a double-decade spanning masterpiece, infinitely better than the source material.

MOUNT KIMBIE UNVEILED THE SECOND TRACK FROM THEIR ALBUM

A couple of weeks ago Mount Kimbie put out the first teaser from their new record. Now they're treating us to a second new track “Blood and Form”. Deliriously glitchy and majestically minimal, the track is a more than adequate appetiser for the forthcoming second record.
